“When a man tells a Black woman that she looks mixed as a form of endearment, he’s insinuating that her beauty comes from the (allegedly) non-Black part of her. All they’re effectively saying is: You’re too beautiful to just be Black. Oh, but I am. We aren’t beautiful in spite of our Blackness, we are beautiful because of it.” - Shayla Pierce
I’ve seen many cruelties in this world, but those are small in comparison to the kind light shown by many. This makes me cry because it shows there is hope for this world.
Don’t - you should never have to try to make someone like you, especially a boy. Be yourself, the people you attract when you are being honest to your character are the ones you want to stick around. Give it time, the right person will come along & when he does, you will see that his favorite thing about you will be, YOU. All of you, every single part. So don’t change. Don’t ever change! <3 xxo
